Science Communication

As an early career researcher, I believe it is crucial to take an active role in science communications. It is essential to foster an environment in which science is communicated so that the public can understand and judge its importance or relevance. Science should be open and transparent to avoid losing touch with a society that is developing new ways of assessing and sharing (mis)information at record speed. Early career researchers are in a unique position at the forefront of discovery. With this comes the responsibility to inform the public and disseminate findings coherently. Not only should we explain what we do and why, but as scientists, we can profit from mutual learning with the public. Communication can help scientist recognize the importance of different perspectives and cultural relevance of science and increase the research impact by disseminating results.
